■ETAP-1 10 AUG. 2025

「Fight the good fight First day of 1200km Marathon Stage」
Leaving Ulaanbaatar, remarkably developing capital city to west as if you go back in time. That make you think about former Genghis Khan who is going on conquest.
First, liaison heading west. Going south for SS-1, drive carefully in the beautiful grasslands as there are many junctions. Beware for washed out crack.
ETAP-1-2 is designated as Marathon Etap. It is required to proceed to Parc Ferme immediately aftter arriving at bivouac. It is not allowed to get any mechanical service until bivouac of ETAP-2 at Zoumod.
It is required to manage in total 1200km race consist of 690km for ETAP-1 and 499km for ETAP-2.

「Heading down to Zoumod, an isolated area of south Gobi」
SS-1 start from Olziyt, 18km ahead from Bayanhongor. Many junctions at first. Ground is parched.
You may pass some of wadi. This area has heavy traffic due to underground resources development in recent years. Watch out for oncoming vehicles. Be careful not to lose your sight when you overtake a vehicle. SS-1 finish when the town come into view.
Fuel up and SS-2 start toward west, then west. Mount Bogd Uul is on your right hand. Rainwater from the mountain shaved off the ground surface, that is why there are many cracks.
After finishing SS-2, move on to small town, Shinejinst. Fuel up there. On the way to bivouac there is a highway like pist towards the mine. Get off a pist on the way, another pist goes just as it used to be.
Go south and south, Zoumod is there. X-1 camion and mechanical service are ready.
Enjoy your time under the shade of Euphrates Poplar trees.

「Valley of Dinosaur Wandering in loop at south Gobi」
SS-1 start from bivouac at Zoumod. Leaving the spring of Zoumod to south. Run through the wilderness to valley of DInosaur from the north side. Unusually shaped rocks are interesting.
Watch out for oncoming vehicles at narrow valley. Go through a lot of tiny Ovoo and the wilderness to south. There is some wood Ovoo on the way then make a cap change to east at the wilderness. Go across wadi. Small woods on the way. What a mysterious place. Snow leopards, internationally protected animal inhabit around here. This is the first time we are allowed to step into this area for rally. Go east and watch out for oncoming vehicles especially at the area with new electric cables.
Across many wadis then finish SS-1. Fuel up at prospering town.
Pass by Naadam Stadium to start SS-2. Difficult part with wadi and camber. Go through many wadis to new thick pist. Be careful to ride. Go across thin pist and run with care for cracks and oncoming vehicles. Finish SS-2, fuel up and back to Zoumod.

「Short trip A mirage of south Gobi」
SS start from bivouac at Zoumod. Go west. Run across many wadis, dried-lake, and make a cap change at a well to north. Thin pist. Leave dry land to grassland and sand dune. Beware for cracks made by rainwater from the mountain. Ancient road turns out to be cracks because of rainwater. Run through the area with many cracks to clear pist, then make a cap change to east, and finish at the town. Fuel up, take familiar road to Zoumod.

ZOUMOD ⇒ BAYANHONGOR

「Lake of Gobi Visiting the lake at grassland」
Liaison first. Go back to Shinejinst, famous for its cashmere to hold a ceremony of the rally.
SS-1 start from north side of the town. Go the wilderness with camels to north. Heading west and make a cap change at CP1 to mountain. Run through the area with many cracks to great plains. Be care for high speed. SS-1 finish when paved road come into sight. Take paved road to east toward the town. Fuel up at an entrance of the town.
SS-2 start from an outside of the town. Many cracks in the first half. There is a lot of Ger when you go into mountain. Run across a mountainous area, many lakes are in front of you. What a beautiful place. Watch out for Ger and oncoming vehicles. Make a cap change at CP to southeast then arrive at a big town.

「Long SS Enjoy beautiful rolling hills and valley」
Tough day with longest SS of the rally. Fuel up after leaving bivouac at the hotel and go for 18km. SS-1 start there. Go east. Across the river, the mine, and a town for CP1. Across an another town to finish SS-1. Fuel up at a town along the river, cross the bridge for SS-2. Heading north from there. Run through lush and green fields with a lot of Ger. Across beautiful rolling mountain and valley then go north. Much more greenery there and finish SS-2. Fuel up, head for bivouac.

BAYAN GOBI ⇒ ULAANBAATAR

「Go beyond the dune for Victory Parade to Ulaanbaatar」
Last day makes you intermingling. The rally is such a sense of wonder.
Climb up the dune soon after leaving bivouac and down with paying attention not to drop down. Go through forest in the sand to north.
There is a rich field with river. Across the river to east. Go beautiful and gentle field. Go east and east comfortable road. You are on the home stretch when the river come in sight. Watch out as oncoming vehicles are increasing. The town in the distance means finish of SS.
Necessary bare minimum of refuel and go paved road to finish the race to former international airport. Ceremony will be held.
In RRM2025, you groan in harsh Gobi but feel calm with generous glass field of Mongolia.
