GENERAL REVIEW ‘Have you heard about the Odyssey?’

The rally participants have taken the challenge of this long and harsh battle with almost the same adventurous spirit of someone on a ship travelling the deep blue sea. The pistes or unpaved tracks extending out across the limitless grass plains have a powerful attraction that makes you want to plunge into them even gripped by the knowledge you are going the wrong way.

This ocean voyage across the grass plains requires not only navigation and riding-driving skill but also a lot of other things including physical stamina. These harsh grass prairies have caused about half of the participants to drop out, quietly closing the curtain on these participants.

The SXS vehicle group is gradually starting to show its power this year, grabbing many places overall on the award stand.

The TOYOTA Tacoma has put up a stiff defense but a stronger convergence of forces can be foreseen from here on in this category

The motorcycle division on the other hand was active on an overall lower pitch but the changes and new challenges from the next generation of rider-drivers are already starting to appear.

In this memorial rally commemorating 25 years held in wonderful weather and including a colorful lineup of participants, the fighting-spirit award went to Takemi Matsuno, and the entire rally ceremony ended in a feeling of deep emotion Well then everybody, did all of you rally participants and spectators feel the call to your own personal odyssey?

「Triumphal end is on Sunday」 After leaving the bivouac camp you all head for the group start point. You all line up together and wait for the helicopter. Once the helicopter arrives and hovers overhead, the flag drops and you all take off in a simultaneous start! This is the finale of the 25th Rally Mongolia having a total length of about 4,300 kilometers and special stages amounting to 2,800 kilometers. During the trip back to Ulaanbaatar which just seems to keep on growing, you might get a funny feeling as if you have just come back to your present world after a mysterious travel through time.
